ARTIST LETTER NO. 22
What If It Could Be Easy?
The difference of push vs. pull.
For a long time, I thought the path forward required pushing.
More strategy. More hustle. And more figuring it out.
I studied funnels, built systems and followed others' instructions that promised results if I just did the steps.
Some of it worked. Most of it didn't.
And the things that didn't work all had something in common — they weren't me.
It's the difference between push and pull.
Pushing is forcing something into existence. Effort. Convincing. Grinding against resistance.
Even when it "works," you feel like you're fighting to make the thing happen.
Pull is different.
Pull is when something draws you forward. When the work wants to happen. And people seem much more naturally drawn to that something.
I used to think I needed to push harder.
Maybe I was just pushing in a direction that wasn't mine.
What I'm focusing on now are more of the things that feel like me — the letters I write each week, the live ceremonies I lead, the course I've been quietly building for years — and none of them have come from a formula.
They came from something more intuitive that feels unmistakably mine.
And those things have pull.
It brings up the question — what if what you want (deep down) could be easy?
Not effortless. But aligned. Because it's true to you.
Easy like finally letting the current carry you instead of fighting against the waves.
Where have you been pushing against yourself?
And what might happen if you stopped to feel what's actually trying to pull you forward?
With love,
Kristen
